no one builds something like this for the sake of God alone; this opulent waste of money and space, probably built atop the graves and former houses of some of the most God conscious and God fearing people to ever walk the earth, is about attention… nothing more. well… except pride.
“look at all the money we have to spend ‘in the name of God.’”
people all around are starving, being oppressed, being killed, or living in the streets with nothing; but instead of trying to rectify that situation, and thus proving how God conscious we really are by doing good in this world — deeds that will reward us long after we have passed on — we are proving how God conscious we are by showing how much money we can spend on things that will crumble with time and reward us with nothing.
i say burn this shit down… God’s true creation is beautiful enough without this monument to pride and greed standing as an eyesore on the earth He gave us.
this goes for this clock tower (when it’s completed, if it is not already), the shining sprawl of the masjid al-haram around the kaaba, and all the multi-million dollar gold encrusted masajid towering over every block.
i’d rather pray in an open field under the blue skies above and surrounded by the majesty of God’s creation than in those empty buildings dedicated to your worldly desire of acknowledgement and attention.
Yup.
